Connect ViewMetrics to Claude or ChatGPT

You can connect ViewMetrics to an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT, then ask questions about your marketing data in plain language. The assistant reads your reporting data through the ViewMetrics connector, which uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that most AI assistants support.

The connection is read-only. An assistant can read the reporting data you choose to share. It cannot change anything in your ViewMetrics account, and it never sees your password or billing details.

What you need

• A ViewMetrics account. If you have not connected any data yet, you can share the demo business, which contains sample data.
• An AI assistant that supports custom connectors, such as Claude or ChatGPT. Whether custom connectors are available depends on your plan with that assistant.

Connect your assistant

ViewMetrics is not listed in the Claude or ChatGPT app directories yet, so searching for it there will not find it. You connect it as a custom connector instead, using this address:

1. In your assistant, open the connector settings and choose to add a custom connector. In Claude this is under Customize → Connectors: click +, then Add custom connector. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps, turn on Developer mode under Advanced settings, then create a new app. On a team or workspace plan, only an owner or admin may be able to add one. These menu names change from time to time, so look for “connectors” or “apps” if yours differ.
2. Enter ViewMetrics as the name and paste the connector address above as the URL.
3. Your assistant sends you to ViewMetrics. Sign in with your usual ViewMetrics login.
4. On the approval screen, select the businesses and data sources the assistant may read. You can include the demo business if you want to try things out with sample data.
5. Click the Authorize button, whose label also shows how many data sources you selected. You are returned to your assistant, and the connection is ready.

Only the businesses and data sources you selected are shared.

What you can ask

• “What accounts do I have connected?” lists the data sources you shared.
• “How did my Instagram perform last month?” returns metrics and trends for a channel and date range.
• “Compare sessions across all my channels for the last 30 days.” compares channels, by day or by week.
• “Give me an overall performance summary for this month.” rolls up a whole workspace.
• “What was my top content this quarter?” ranks videos, posts, campaigns and pages.
• “Write a client-ready summary of last month’s performance.” drafts prose from your real numbers.

Some assistants show the results as interactive charts. The exact values are always included in the text of the answer as well.

Manage or disconnect a connection

In ViewMetrics, open Settings → Connected apps. The page lists every assistant connected to your business, what each one can read, and when it was last used.

• To remove your own connection, click Disconnect on that app.

Disconnecting takes effect straight away. The assistant can no longer renew its access, and any access it already holds expires within one hour.

You can also remove ViewMetrics from the connector settings inside your assistant.

Troubleshooting

The assistant says a data source needs to be reconnected

The data source’s own connection, for example to Google or Instagram, has lapsed. Reconnect it under Connections → Data Sources in ViewMetrics, then ask again. See How to connect a data source.

A data source is missing in the assistant

It was not selected on the approval screen. If you are an owner or admin, open Settings → Connected apps, click Change what it can see on the app and select the data source. Otherwise, disconnect the app, then connect again and select the data source.

The assistant says connectors are disabled

An owner or admin has turned AI connectors off for that business. Ask them to switch Let apps connect to this business back on from the Account settings page.

Answers contain sample data

Anything from the demo business is labelled as generated sample data. It is never mixed into the totals for your real businesses. To stop seeing it, reconnect without selecting the demo business.

Privacy

ViewMetrics does not hand your provider logins, such as your Google or Meta connections, to the assistant. It only returns the reporting data the assistant asks for. Our privacy policy explains how ViewMetrics handles your data.
